I live in Biei, Hokkaido, where I work as a web designer and run Biei Travel Guide.
Remote work means you’re not tied to any one place — so we thought, why not live somewhere truly wonderful as a family? With that, the four of us decided to make the move.
While searching for our new home, we came across “The Most Beautiful Villages in Japan.” Among them all, it was Biei — with its sweeping hills and beauty in every season — that captured our hearts.
Once we settled in, we realized that Biei’s charm goes far beyond its famous sights. The hills change their expression with the seasons and the hours of the day, and even an ordinary roadside can open onto a view that stops you in your tracks. Everyday life here is full of moments that move you.
Why I Started This Site
I wanted to share the Biei that only residents get to see with everyone planning a visit. That is how Biei Travel Guide began.
From sightseeing spots and local food to everything useful for planning your trip, I write from a local’s perspective in a way that is easy to follow — covering not just beautiful scenery, but how each season differs and what to keep in mind while you are here.
